No previous experience of acting, performing or comedy improvisation necessary - just a willingness to take part, and a general desire to access your creativity by inviting more fun and spontaneity into your day-to-day life. This really is an experience not to be missed!
Expertly led by Chris Grimes - facilitator, actor, comic, voiceover - and his InstantWit “crew” of professional actors, comedians and musicians, the three day event will be choc full of experimentation and fun, supported by elegantly sympathetic technique. Together participants will explore the skills and enjoyment of Comedy Improvisation along with it’s wonderfully liberating mindset of ‘Yes and...’ It’s an unmissable invitation to come along and laugh - play - enjoy - be amazed - breathe - surprise yourself - giggle - eat glorious fresh food in beautiful surroundings and with wonderful company - and then guess what? Laugh some more! And on the Saturday night there will also be the opportunity to sit back, relax - have some “sun-set supper” - and enjoy INSTANT WIT in action - as they perform a full INSTANT WIT show the Workshop participants, and members of the public.

Instantwit is a highly acclaimed and long established Comedy Improvisation show and Company based in Bristol. They have been performing their show nationally & internationally for over 20 years. The workshops they have created are carefully structured around improvisational comedy to meet the particular needs of the individual participants. Highly creative, always surprising, and without doubt provoking a great deal of laughter….. Sunday, the final day of the workshop, will consolidate all that has been learnt and experienced so far, whilst working towards a “big finish”, decided upon by the group.
Chris Grimes is the Artistic Director of INSTANT WIT and the principle workshop leader for the company. He is a highly experienced workshop leader, facilitator & coach. He trained initially as a Drama Teacher at the Central School of Speech & Drama in London, before going on to do the 2 Year Postgraduate Acting course at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, from where he was awarded the Peter Akerman Prize for Comedy. Since 1988 he has pursued a portfolio career combining all of the transferable skills of being an actor, teacher, trainer, comedy improvisation performer & coach. Mike Akers is a performer, writer, dramaturg and educator from Bristol UK. He has been a member of Instant Wit for more than 15 years and he also performs regularly as his comic alter ego the Reverend Lemon. As a writer, he has had over forty plays commissioned including productions for Salisbury Playhouse, Travelling Light, Polka Theatre, Green Ginger, Sixth Sense, Pins & Needles, The Wrong Crowd and on BBC radio. He works regularly with director Sally Cookson, including a trio of highly successful productions for Bristol Old Vic, Treasure Island, Peter Pan and Jane Eyre, the latter two of which both went on to be produced at the National Theatre. Travel day - you will be sent information regarding transportation to Les Soeurs Anglaises (pick-ups are generally late afternoon) from Angoulemetrain station and Bergerac airport. Welcome, Meet + Greet dinner at the house. Evening intro in L'Espace studio
10am til lunchtime, the Workshop experience commences in earnest with INSTANT WIT: In a fast moving, fun packed, laughter provoking exploration of Comedy Improvisation - along with its liberating “yes and...” mindset and methodology. Delivered in a supportive "Drama Workshop" style and format.
10am til lunchtime, the Workshop continues - A final “Big Finish” morning workshop - including Q+A with members of the Instantwit company - followed by free time to relax and explore the wonderful surroundings.

For the Instant Wit workshop we require a 170€ non-refundable deposit (by Paypal or UK bank transfer) to secure a booking; the full balance being payable two months prior to the start of the workshop.
