ÅSA TRICOSA - KNITTING IM-MERCERIE
6-12 SEPTEMBER 2017 (5 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS)
In 2016, Åsa Söderman led a taster knitting weekend at Les Soeurs Anglaises. We were all so thrilled by her knitting skills and enthusiastic sharing of them that we have invited her to return in autumn 2017 to lead a longer, five-day Knitting Im-Mercerie. This time she will be championing her favourite hand-dyed yarns from the German company Rohrspatz & Wollmeise and demonstrating how well they work with her particular style of knitting.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
To kickstart the workshop Åsa will cover the basics of her celebrated Ziggurat Method, (a true all-in-one-everything-built-in-as-you-go knitting technique), to make one of her simple sweater patterns. Over the following days participants will progress, at their own speed, to cover the following techniques: magic loop knitting; provisional cast-on; short rows; attached i-cord; top-down beginning of hat/mitten/toe-up sock, cable patterns; and elongated stitches. In fact, the days will be packed with inspirational knitting “secrets”; and while you may not complete a sweater, you will be well on your way, with follow-up notes and continuing online help from Åsa.
THERE ARE NOW ONLY 3 PLACES REMAINING ON THIS WORKSHOP
Åsa is widely celebrated as a problem-solving knitter and designer. Her talent lies in an ability to combine knitting techniques, many of her own invention, with striking stitch patterns and Scandinavian colour combinations, worked into detailed and stunning garments. She teaches her Ziggurat technique all over Europe.
Born and raised in Sweden, Åsa now lives with her Danish husband in Germany after years in the US, UK, and lately with extended periods in Scotland.
To help you further unwind and release your creativity, our regular Iyengar influenced Yogateacher, Liz Bolton, will be leading asana and relaxation sessions first thing in the morning and again in the early evening, every day. The choice of what you do, how much and when, will be entirely yours and we’ll actively encourage you to go at your own pace. Let us help you make this a special and memorable week to enjoy what you love amongst like-minded people.
